Godly Women, Let’s Pray for Men!

Men need women. That’s why God said it’s not good for man to be alone. There are lots of reasons that men need women. Oh, I’m not saying that every man has to be married. But, in general, men live longer, healthier lives if they have a wife.

I believe that most women are happier with a man to spend their whole lives with, too. We hate being lonely, and having a good mate helps with that. But the biggest need that I think women can meet in their husband’s life is their spiritual needs.

I have seen how men act when they are alone or with other men and no women. They act crazy! It’s a wonder any of them live beyond their teen years. But God has made them to be daring and fearless. And we need that bravery and aggressiveness in many situations in life. Men are wonderful! Their desire to defend, protect, provide, and take care of women and children is admirable. Their desire to lead and accomplish great things is God-given.

I have no desire to bash men. I want to lift them up and encourage those positive masculine traits I have mentioned.

But when it comes to spiritual things, many men just don’t seem to get it. It seems like many of them feel like it’s sissy to be spiritually-minded. They seem embarrassed or completely uninterested in spiritual matters and even emotional issues.

And that’s where women come in. Women, in general, are more in tune with spiritual and emotional concerns. We are wired to be more emotional, nurturing, sensitive, and in many cases more spiritually aware. Many women really do have a special intuition and wisdom when it comes to relationships.

Since we are more geared to spiritual awareness, we owe it to our men to help them understand and “see” God in us. In our demeanor, our behavior, our attitude, and our general lifestyle, we should model for them a life that is peaceful, full of faith, and loving toward all.

In the same way, wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, even if some disobey the word, they may be won over without a word by the way their wives live. 1 Peter 3:1

For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife? 1 Cor. 7:16

So, I believe that women fulfill a very important role in this world. We lead men to Jesus. We are great evangelists within our own home when we live godly lives. And when we pray for our men, we pray with great power and feeling. Our love for them and our desire to see them do well and have the best life possible drives us to pray fervently for our husbands.

Pray and model godly behavior, full of the fruits of the Spirit, and we will see great spiritual results in our men. And, I believe the emotions will follow.

Merry Christmas from the Douglas Family

Here is my latest newsletter with some new insights I’ve been gaining from some very interesting books. They are even making Christmas more meaningful.

Here’s the big idea that is changing my perspective:

“From man’s perspective, Calvary came about because of man’s sinful state. From God’s personal purpose, the human race was created to produce Calvary.” !!!!!

Why did God want to do such a thing? Because He wanted to demonstrate to all of His creation what motivated Him to do all that He did. He wanted to reveal that His core being, His nature and His motivation were love. The only way He could show the depth of His love was by sacrificially giving Himself.”

I highly recommend reading “God’s Weapons of Warfare” by Dr. Bill Hamon and “The New Era of Glory” by Tim Sheets.

Great Christmas Gift Idea – Books of Course!

Homeschool Ideas for Thanksgiving

Wow, I was just looking at Pinterest for Thanksgiving ideas. Can we say Overload? I have some favorite activities that I would like to share with you, and maybe you’ll find one or two things that interest you. I always go for simple. So, if you’re like me, these easy, inexpensive ideas will be doable and not overwhelming.

The first thing I recommend is a book to read aloud, of course.

A book about William Bradford, the first governor of The Plymouth Settlement. Here is a blurb from the website:

“The New World beckoned as a land of freedom and possibility. Yet wild waters, icy winters, Indian attacks, starvation, and treason threatened the European settlers’ very existence. Through William’s vision and steadfast leadership, the people of Plymouth Colony would endure, their future descendants forming the cornerstone of a great nation (1590-1657).”

This is a great way to remember the Pilgrims and the struggles they went through to settle this nation as a bastion of freedom for all.

This is a good telling of the story of the Mayflower featuring Peanuts characters. It’s part of a series called “This is America, Charlie Brown”.

This is a varied playlist of Family Thanksgiving Movies. There’s an old black and white movie about children being thankful even though they couldn’t afford a turkey that year. It’s a good reminder of some of the things we have to be thankful for. It’s very old, but we can learn from it how things were a generation ago. And the lesson about being thankful in spite of temporary circumstances is always in order.

And there are several cartoons, including Berenstain Bears, Care Bears, Mickey Mouse, Martha Speaks, Maya and Miguel, Sesame Street, and a TV movie from 1986, among others. Tell me the ones you watched and liked!

Another fun book to read is A Cranberry Thanksgiving by Wende and Harry Devlin. It is a very popular book. Here’s a summary of the story:

“Every year Grandmother invited a guest for Thanksgiving dinner and allowed Maggie to do the same. “Ask someone poor or lonely,” she always said. Thanksgiving was Grandmother’s favorite day of the year. The cooking was done and her famous cranberry bread was cooling on a wooden board. These are our favorite cookies to make for Thanksgiving. We make cookies that look like turkeys. We use Fudge Stripe cookies, candy corn and bonbons. And put them together like this:
